Our Developmental Program

At Licketysplity yorkies we pride ourselves on our comprehensive puppy developmental program designed to nurture the growth, confidence, and social skills of our beloved pups. Our unique approach combines proven methods with innovative techniques to give your puppy the best start in life.

NEONATAL STAGE (Days 3-5 to 14-16): During the neonatal stage, we initiate Bio Sensor training, also known as Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) This involves gently exposing puppies to a series of tactile stimuli in five different positions for five seconds each. ENS is believed to enhance neurological development, resulting in more well-rounded and resilient puppies.

2-12 WEEKS: As puppies grow, we focus on building their confidence and introducing them to various stimuli. Puppies are handled, snuggled, and cuddled regularly to foster a strong bond with humans. We introduce small toys, tug toys, and balls to encourage play and exploration. Additionally, we start exposing puppies to different textures using a textured tray, teaching them that surfaces can have varied feels.

Exploratory Play: We provide puppies with a simulating environment where they can explore and learn. Puppies are introduced to a small cat tube to familiarize them with enclosed spaces. We incorporate fun and challenging elements such as a spinning "lazy Susan" and a balance board to teach puppies balance and confidence on unstable surfaces. A tray filled with lightweight balls encourages playful interaction and movement.

Introduction to Crate Training: At 8 weeks, we introduce an open crate into the puppies pen, allowing them to explore and become comfortable with it. By 10 weeks, each puppy transitions to their individual crate to learn to sleep through the night. We provide comfort items and comforting presence to ease any anxiety, preparing them for future travels and transitions.

Socialization: Our puppies are socialized with both adults and children to ensure they are comfortable and confident around people of all ages. They are also introduced to other dogs in our household, promoting positive interactions and socialization with their canine counterparts.

Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continually evolving and improving our program. As we discover new ways to enrich the puppy's environment and enhance their development, we integrate them into our program to provide the best possible start for every puppy.
